As a Sitters for Scholars board member, I have seen the power this small organization has to make big changes in a family's life. One student mom told us: "I was going to school two nights a week and my mother watched the kids. I would pick them up at 9 or 9:30 pm way across town. They were exhausted and I was exhausted. Without question, Sitters is the single most important factor in my being able to graduate."
A lack of childcare is one of the biggest barriers preventing single parents from pursuing their education. And a lack of education is one of the biggest barriers to advancement in the work world.
Your donation to Sitters for Scholars provides free babysitting in the home while a student mom goes to class or is otherwise studying. It is concrete support just when they need it most!
